Emirates' launches flights to Jeddah on superjumbo A380
Dec 28, 2009 (LBO) –Emirates Airlines announced the launch of flights from Dubai to Jeddah on the Airbus A380, the largest commercial airliner in the world.

The superjumbo is the first for Saudi Arabia and Jeddah is the eighth destination being served by the A380 world over. The other destinations include Sydney, Auckland, Heathrow, Bangkok, Toronto, Seoul and Paris.

Flights to Jeddah will begin in February 2010, four times a week. The service into Jeddah will be Emirates’ first Middle Eastern A380 destination outside of Dubai.

The launch of the new flights on the superjumbo will significantly add capacity to the route, adding to the current daily flight to Jeddah from Dubai.

“The introduction of the highly acclaimed A380 on the Jeddah route is a true reflection of an increased demand for services in and out of the Kingdom, said Ahmed Khoory, senior vice president commercial operations, Gulf, Middle East and Iran, for Emirates.

The Dubai based airline has seven A380 aircraft in its fleet at present. It has placed the world's largest order of Airbus A380s, with a further 51 of the jumbo planes still to be delivered.
